Thank You and remembering......

I wanted to take a moment this evening to thank each and every one of you that visited my blog today for our Primitive Christmas Blog Hop! We are in for a ton of fun over the next few weeks with all the designers in the line up!

We arrived safely back home from our Thanksgiving vacation in the wee hours of the morning. I'm so thankful my husband drove all night long to get us back home.

Today I've done a bit of reminiscing. Today my Grandpa has been in heaven for five years. It seems like yesterday we said goodbye. I've looked through old photos, remembered his favorite little sayings, remembered his little "love pats" to my grandma. I remember his beautiful gardens, trips to the grocery store on those long and winding West Virginia roads in his old car. I remember Dr. Pepper in those long neck glass bottles he used to buy and his secret stash of cookies. I vividly remember him working on lawn mowers and such for people up and down the road after retiring from the lumber mill. I remember sitting with him peeling apples to can, I remember picking green beans and berries with him, I remember his slight limp from an accident long ago. I remember his wonderful stories and how much he enjoyed when we all came to visit.

My Grandpa is in the center of the photo above - he's getting ready to head off to war. My Grandma Lucille is on the right and my Great Great Grandpa Sanford is on the left.

Love you Grandpa and miss you!

I love today's post. Your grandfather sounds like a loving soul. I had a wonderful relationship with my grandparents on my mother's side of the family who both lived to their mid-90s. What a blessing and so many fond memories.
