Patchwork of the Crosses Quilt Block Progress!

So excited! I just finished my second quilt block on my Patchwork Of The Crossesquilt blocks and I am arranging the pieces for a third block! I think I am addicted to these InkLingo blocks! So much fun!

Here's a peek at my progress:

This is the next block I'm going to attack today! WooHoo!

Quilt It Magazine

Just a quick post to show you some goodies I found in the March/April 2013 issue of Quilt-It Today magazine.  This is a newer magazine on the block and it's focus appears to be quick simple and fast quilts and projects!

Love these 2 older hexagon quilts featured in the magazine.  I especially like that one in the top right hand corner.  Maybe after I finish the hexie quilt I'm hand piecing - I'll jump into this quilt!  I love the layout.  The pattern is not in the magazine, this is just an article!

Sweet Dreams quilt pattern.  Quick and easy to make using all my scraps!  How simple - just half square triangles - and big ones! Hmmm - this would be a fun pattern to use and do a half square triangle exchange among friends!

This is Spinning Stars.  I like the easiness of this pattern - but I want to make one bedsize and make it ubber scrappy!  Ubber - have not heard that word used in awhile!  I must need more coffee because my brain seems to have gone back into time of when I was younger and used "cool" words like that!

Have a great day folks and go Quilt Something!

Winner of The Scalloped Edge Ruler.....

Congratulations to

Miss Bella our sweet kitty picked your name as the winner of the giveaway that we offered yesterday!  If you could email me at with your snail mail address, I will ship your Scalloped Edge Ruler to you right away!

(Don't forget to click the link above to visit Valerie's blog also and congratulate her!)

I'm tinkering around today working on  a scrap quilt.  When I was cleaning a few weeks back I realized how much fabric I had already pre-cut into 2 1/2" strips, plus a lot of fabric that just isn't doing me any good sitting in a bin.  So I attacked the scraps and have started working on this today:

Pretty neat looking so far.  This quilt is going together really fast - I guess it helps to have all those 2 1/2" strips pre-cut already!  I'm using this pattern:

This pattern is called Tradewinds and is by Cozy Quilt Designs.  So far so good!  It's a very nicely written pattern and so easy to follow.

Miss Bella said to tell everyone hello.  She's lounging in one of my quilting baskets right now - I guess it was hard work picking a winner of the Scalloped Edge Tool.  What a life this cat has!

I'm off to do a little hand applique.  My back and neck are getting stiff from sitting at the sewing machine, so I  better stop while I'm ahead and not really over due it!  I think my Stars and Sprigs quilt that I'm working on is calling my name! I'm going to go flop down in my favorite chair with a cup of coffee and my applique!  Have a great day everyone!

Party Of 12 fabric by Judie Rothermel

Well, Judie has gone and done it again.  She's created a fabric line that I love everything about. The more I look at these beauties the more I love 'em! I want a bolt of a few of these - isn't that awful!  I want to hoard some of these away for lots of future designs!

Are these not to die for!  I need more - I want lots and lots of yardage.  Guess I better get off here and get a little work done today so that I can afford to buy more of this before it's all gone!

Here's a link to the quilt shop where I order a lot of my fabric bundles from:

Back to work I go!  Happy Quilting!

Happy Friday!

Simple, Easy & Quick!

I found a magazine the other day while shopping that I enjoyed!  I don't usually go for the simple and quick type quilts - I like detailed - quilts that take awhile to make and take a lot of thought.  But - with that said, I also have gifts I need to make this year and I think this magazine has given me a good visual as to what I can make in a small amount of time.

Sometimes my brain is on "detail only" mode and I do not stop to think about the quick and simple - is that my designer brain running full strength??  Do you ever get like that?  I'm pretty sure I'm the opposite of most quilters today because so many people are always in a rush, or just do not have the time and hours to sit and make really involved projects.

Anyhow, this magazine is worth the cost of $9.99.  There are many, many quick quilts and a few projects that use only pre-cut strips and squares. (Think Moda charm packs and jelly rolls!  Even Layer Cakes!)

Here are the quilts I've earmarked that I would like to try and accomplish using only my scrap stash.  I have so many 2 1/2" strips already cut and waiting.  Tons of charm squares.  Then there are the 3 baskets of scraps that have wonderful, usable sizes of fabric!

This quilt is titled Sunny Skies.

Love these quick stars. This one is called Dashing Stars.

I'm not really into making bags - but they make excellent quick gifts and they are  something that can be made and donated to your quilt guilds show - if they sell finished items that is!  The neat thing about this pattern is you can make three bags from one charm pack!  Now that's cool!  The pattern is called 3 Times The Charm - how clever!

This quilt really got me thinking because I have so many 2 1/2" strips.  This would be a fast one with lots of eye candy.  It's called Piece Out.

Same here - have plenty of 5" squares around here to whip this quilt out in no time at all.  It's called X's and O's.

Now this one  - I really like the pattern - gives plenty of room to play with an assortment of fabrics and uses some solid fabric - of which I have tons of - and I mean tons!
This is called Summer In The Park.

Now, I thought about something here.  If I were only to make the 6 items I've shown here and nothing else from the magazine - break that down from the $9.99 cost and each of these patterns only cost me $1.67.  I'm liking that!

One last things about his magazine.  It has a very unique feature to it.  All the patterns are written by one person.  That's it!  It's like buying a book really.  Jenny Doan of The Missouri Quilt Company is the soul designer on most of the quilts - there are a few that her daughters have created also, but everything was produced right there at The Missouri Quilt Company!

This magazine is produced by Fon's and Porter and has a Spring 2013 date on it!

Happy Quilting!

Jinny Beyer Comes To Town!

At one of the Quilt Guilds I belong to in the area, they had a very special, kind, sweet and talented guest speaker visit.

Last month Jinny Beyer came to town.  Her talk on how she chooses color, her quilts and her spirit were such a joy.  I admire Jinny's quilts and truly - if you ever have the chance to meet her or take a class from her - do it.  You will not be disappointed at all!

Here's some pictures I too from that special night!

Scrap bags, gotta love 'em!

With one of my recent orders from Homestead Hearth Quilt Shop, I also ordered one of their "1800's Only Scrap Bags" of fabric.

Holy Cow! I love every piece that I received!  What is it about scraps of fabric that I just love.  There are some nice size chunks of fabric in these bags all for $9.00!!!  I'll be ordering more for sure!  Love me some scraps!

Here is a link to the Scrap Bags so you can order one or two or more also!

So very true!

Quilting Collectibles

I've started to collect little doo-dads, pictures, etc. of things I consider "Quilting Collectibles".
I thought I would share a few of the things I have on my blog!  Enjoy!

Here are four different pieces I purchased on Ebay a few years ago.  I love these basket stamps and feel fortunate to have purchased these pieces!

I'm planning on framing them and handing them in my sewing studio!

Lucy Boston, Patchwork Of The Crosses Quilt

I've gone and started another project.

I just couldn't help myself though, I've wanted to make the Lucy Boston, Patchwork Of The Crosses Quilt Forever!!!

I'm using InkLingo for my pattern shapes.  I love this program, it makes life so much easier.  With just the click of the mouse I'm printing the pattern shapes on my fabrics.

This is the book that goes along with the quilt.  I highly recommend purchasing the book, there is a wealth of information and wonderful pictures in it.

Below is my first block.  I really want to play around with some awesome color combinations while making this quilt.  I'm going to use reproduction fabrics from my stash and I'm thinking about having a pretty brown mottled fabric for the sashing between each of the blocks.  But that can be decide later as I get further into this quilt - I'll just let the quilt tell me what it wants and needs!

I invite you to check InkLingo out and see if you might like to join me in making a Patchwork Of The Crosses Quilt.  I'm hand piecing mine and loving every quiet moment of it.

Simply click on any of the photos above or below and it will take you directly to InkLingo's website and you can look at your options for making this beautiful quilt!  I'm using the 1 1/2" finished size!

This block is pretty also!  Love a red and black and white combo!
