A Little Treasure I Found

Here's a neat little treasure I picked up at the quilt show last weekend for $5, it's a coffee cup with a neat insert that has a ton of little pockets! And through the help of some kind FaceBook friends - I can now order the pattern to make some of these! They would make great Christmas gifts!

You can find the downloadable pattern here:

Now - I've got to get back to work! Busy day ahead!

Acorn Quilt Shop - A sneak peek at my designs

Last weekend while at the Prairie Star Quilters Guild show I was in a vendors booth and low and behold what do I see??

Above is our #415 Spirit Of The Season pattern design!!!

Above is our #418 Bittersweet Blossoms pattern design!

Both of these patterns and the kits that the shop assembled are available through:

Acorn Quilts
6409 East Riverside Blvd.
Rockford, IL 61114
Phone:  815-977-5275

That was so exciting to see both of my designs made up in brighter fabrics!  They were so kind to allow me to take photos to share with you.  If you are interested in either the pattern or the kit - give them a call!

PSQG Quilt Show Photos

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Prairie Star Quilters Guild Show.  What a wonderful show it was - I'm really tempted to join their quilt guild!  Such talented and friendly ladies

Here's a link to the album I created through Google Photos!!!

Here's a few of the quilts I had the pleasure of viewing if you do not have time to view my album right now!  There are 164 pictures in the album - so it might take you a little while to look at them all!

From what I have read - WebShots - my former favorite photo uploader is shutting down!  Do you know of any good online photo services that I could use to create slideshows and collages???

Have a great day!

Just a little post

Hello everyone - just a quick little post this morning to let you know that I am fine, I had just decided to take a break from blogging and the internet for a bit to get my head cleared and my priorities straightened out a bit.

I'm busily working away on my next book and my family and I had an excellent summer. The kids are back in school and life has found me with a few minor medical problems - but nothing that cannot be fixed!  (More on that later!)

This past weekend we went to my husbands company picnic and had a great time!

Here's me in my husbands semi pretending that I know what I'm doing!  LOL

I'll be back to chat more shortly, this morning I'm off to the doctors (simple blood work check up) and then right back home to bury myself in more stitching!

Have a most excellent day!

Isn't this saying so true!  Thank you to each of you that took the time to email, text or phone me during my disappearing act this summer to check on me!

Barn Quilts Book GiveAway

Long time no chat!!!  It has been such a fun and enjoyable summer here so far and I hope you are enjoying it as well!

We are going to do a fun give away here on our blog today!

I was sent this wonderful book to review: Barn Quilts And The American Quilt Trail Movement by Suzi Parron with Donna Sue Groves.

Wow - in one word sums this book up.  I love barn quilts and every time I travel I search for them! This book is such a great source of information and beautiful pictures. This is one of those books that I recommend everyone have in their book collection!

The Give Away for a copy of this brand new book begins now and will end tomorrow evening  (August 9th, 2012) when we will choose the winner and contact them directly via email - so be sure and have your email registered with blogger so that we can get a hold of you if you win - "Anonymous" Bloggers - please note - we cannot contact you without the proper email address!!!!

You can read more about the author and her adventures here on her website:

(you can order this book directly from the above website also!)

and also here on her blog:

And here is a bit more information on this great book!

The story of the American Quilt Trail, featuring the colorful patterns of quilt squares painted large on barns throughout North America, is the story of one of the fastest-growing grassroots public arts movements in the United States and Canada. In Barn Quilts and the American Quilt Trail Movement Suzi Parron takes us to twenty-five states as well as Canada to visit the people and places that have put this movement on America’s tourist and folk art map.

Through dozens of interviews with barn quilt artists, committee members, and barn owners, Parron documents a journey that began in 2001 with the founder of the movement, Donna Sue Groves. Groves’s desire to honor her mother with a quilt square painted on their barn became a group effort that eventually grew into a county-wide project. Today, quilt squares form a long imaginary clothesline, appearing on more than three thousand barns scattered along one hundred and twenty driving trails.

With more than eighty full-color photographs, Parron documents here a movement that combines rural economic development with an American folk art phenomenon.

Suzi Parron is a quilter, backwoods traveler, an avid kayaker and a folk art collector. She holds a Master of Arts in English from the University of Florida, with a concentration in the literature of the American South. She teaches English at Lakeside High School in Atlanta.

Donna Sue Groves launched the Ohio Quilt Barn Project in 2001. She was formerly the Southern Ohio field coordinator for Ohio’s Appalachian Arts Initiative and the Southern Ohio field representative for the Ohio Arts Council. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2010 Ohio Governor’s Award for the Arts in Community Development and Partnerships.

I would love to have this pattern to make a few of these for Christmas gifts and to share the source of such a pattern with you!

If you have any idea where to find this pattern - please leave me a comment!
